Privacy

We don’t use cookies or advertising trackers. We count clicks and page views on our own server without collecting personal data, and we only hold your details if you email us.

What we collect

  • No cookies. This site sets no cookies for visitors and loads no third-party analytics or advertising scripts.
  • Click and page counts. When you click a retailer link or view a page, our own server adds one to a counter for that page, product and retailer. We don’t record your IP address, a device ID or anything else that identifies you.
  • Server logs. The server that runs this site keeps standard access logs, which include IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting. Our host rotates them by size and clears them within about 30 days.
  • Page delivery. Pages reach you through Cloudflare’s network, which handles each request, including your IP address, to deliver the site and block attacks.
  • Emails you send us. Your address and message, kept only as long as we need to reply.

Who handles data for us

  • Hosting: xCloud, a managed WordPress host (xcloud.host), on a server run by Vultr in Toronto, Canada. The server logs above are stored there.
  • Delivery and security: Cloudflare (cloudflare.com), which passes requests to our server.

They handle this data only to run the site for us. We don’t sell it or use it for marketing.

When you click through to a retailer

Retailer links take you to the retailer’s own site. If the link is an affiliate link, the retailer or its affiliate network may set its own cookies to credit the sale to us. Their privacy policies apply from that point.

Your rights under UK GDPR

Data controller: Alastair McDonald, trading as AMCD Solutions. Contact: [email protected]

Lawful basis: legitimate interests, for keeping server logs (to keep the site secure and working) and for replying to emails you send us. We don’t process personal data for anything else.

Retention: server logs for up to about 30 days; emails for 12 months after the conversation ends.

Your rights: you can ask to see, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for a copy to take elsewhere. Email us at the address above; we reply within one month.

Complaints: if you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.

International transfers: our server is in Toronto, Canada, so server logs are stored outside the UK. UK law treats transfers to Canada as adequate where the recipient is covered by Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA): see the Data Protection Act 2018, Schedule 21, paragraphs 4 and 5.
