The smallest Arete: a compact dehumidifier for one room or a studio, with a HEPA filter, a purifier-only mode and 32 dB on low.
Updated
- 32 dB(A) Noise at lowest setting
- 3 months Filter life (maker's estimate)
- 6 L/day Dehumidifying
- 1.8 L Water tank
Pros
- Quietest Arete: 32 dB on low fan, with a lights-off Night mode
- HEPA filter in the box and a purifier-only mode
- Rated 6 L a day at 30°C/80% RH, or 2.6 L at 20°C/60% RH
- Compact: 39.5 cm tall and 7.9 kg, sized for one room
- Same five-year registered warranty as the larger Arete models
Cons
- No published CADR; 56–65 m³/h of airflow makes air cleaning slow
- Sold as H13, but Meaco's 6L copy quotes 99.75% at 0.3 µm, below that class
- Small 1.8 L tank fills quickly in a damp room
- Castors cost extra; no timer, app or air-quality sensor
- Best for
- A damp bedroom, studio flat or student room where a quiet compact dehumidifier with some fine-particle filtering is enough.
- Not for
- Whole homes or anyone who wants real purifier performance: its airflow is a small fraction of a bedroom purifier's.
Our verdict
The Arete One 6L, new to Meaco’s range in 2026, is the smallest Arete: 39.5 cm tall and 7.9 kg, sized by Meaco for one room of up to about 25 m², a studio or a student room. It is rated at 6 litres a day at 30°C and 80% RH, 3.5 litres at 27°C and 60% RH and 2.63 litres at 20°C and 60% RH. It keeps the Arete controls, including a six-hour laundry mode and Air Purification mode.
It is the quietest Arete, at 32 to 35 dB, and it moves the least air, 56 to 65 m³/h. Meaco publishes no CADR, and at that airflow it filters a room far more slowly than even a small stand-alone purifier. Meaco’s 6L copy calls the filter H13 but quotes 99.75% at 0.3 microns, below the 99.95% its own help centre gives for the class. Only one of the HEPA or charcoal filters fits at a time.
The 1.8-litre tank needs emptying often in a damp room unless you fit a garden hose for continuous drainage, and castors are an extra. For a single damp bedroom, our guide to air purifiers and dehumidifiers for mould explains which job matters more.
Filters and running costs
Change the HEPA filter when it greys, roughly every three months. Meaco sells it in packs of three (SD-AreteHepa-6L), which were out of stock when we checked, and a charcoal pack for smells. Clean the dust filter at least every two weeks, as Meaco says not doing so could invalidate the five-year registered warranty. Rated power is 105 W, so eight hours of drying uses at most about 0.84 kWh.
Living with it
We could read only seven owner reviews, all on Meaco’s UK and Irish stores, so treat them as a small sample. Four owners call it quiet, two of them on the night setting in particular, and two say it is economical to run, one after replacing an older Meaco with two of these. The one drawback raised is the tank: one owner empties it about daily and suggests a drain hose or a bigger model.

Meaco MeacoDry Arete One 6L Compact Dehumidifier and Air Purifier questions
Is the Meaco Arete One 6L big enough for a bedroom?
For one room, yes: Meaco sizes it for single rooms of up to about 25 m², such as a double bedroom, studio or student room. That is a dehumidifying guide, not a purifier rating; at 56 to 65 m³/h of airflow it filters slowly. It is rated at 6 litres a day at 30°C and 80% RH, or about 2.6 litres at 20°C and 60% RH.
Can I use the HEPA and charcoal filters together in the Arete One 6L?
No. Only one fits behind the dust filter at a time, so you choose: the HEPA filter for fine dust and pollen-sized particles, or the coconut charcoal filter for smells. Meaco suggests swapping them to suit the season or the problem. Both come in packs of three, and Meaco gives a change interval only for the HEPA, roughly every three months.
How loud is the Arete One 6L at night?
Meaco quotes 32 to 35 dB, the lowest of the Arete range. Night mode drops the fan to low, silences the buttons and turns off all the display lights; press the Night mode button once to check the humidity and twice to leave it. Taking the HEPA filter out makes it 4 to 5 dB quieter, but it then only dehumidifies.
Does the Arete One 6L come with wheels?
No. Castors aren’t included on the 6L; Meaco sells a set separately as SD-AreteCastors-6L. At 7.9 kg and 39.5 cm tall it is light enough to carry between rooms. To avoid emptying its 1.8-litre tank by hand, fit a standard 12.5 mm garden hose to the adaptor in the tank lid, running downhill.
Is there a minimum room size for the Arete One 6L?
Yes. It contains flammable R290 refrigerant, so Meaco says not to use or store it in a room smaller than 4 m², or near open flames or other ignition sources. Leave it upright for six hours after delivery before switching it on, and take the HEPA filter out of its plastic bag before fitting it.
