Our verdict
The Blue Max 3250i is Blueair’s small-room purifier in the UK. Blueair states the same 239 m³/h CADR for smoke, dust and pollen, without naming a test standard, and recommends it for a room of about 20 m² at 4.8 air changes an hour. Our five-changes rule gives the same answer, so this is a bedroom, nursery or home-office purifier.
Air comes in all round through a washable fabric pre-filter and leaves from the top, so Blueair says it can stand anywhere in the room. Behind the pre-filter sits a Particle + Carbon filter using Blueair’s HEPASilent method: particles are charged electrostatically before a mechanical filter catches them, and Blueair gives no HEPA class. It quotes 18 dB on the lowest speed, 46 dB at the top and 20 W.
Of the 16 owner reviews we read, three call it very quiet, two say it is quiet enough to run overnight and four say the sensor responds quickly to changes in the air. The complaints were single ones: Wi-Fi that kept dropping, and an owner whose air already read clean who saw no difference. For other quiet options, see our best air purifiers for bedrooms.
Filters and running costs
Blueair gives three figures for the Particle + Carbon filter (article 110410): six months in its spec table, up to nine months on the filter page and up to a year with the app’s RealTrack estimate, which works from fan speed, running hours and pollution. Budget for six months, not least because the warranty depends on changing filters on Blueair’s schedule. A red filter light shows when it is due. At 20 W, eight hours on top speed uses about 0.16 kWh. Part numbers are in our filter finder.

Blueair Blue Max 3250i questions
How often should I change the Blueair Blue Max 3250i filter?
Plan on every six months. Blueair’s spec table says six months, its filter page says up to nine, and the RealTrack estimate in the Blueair app can stretch to a year with light use. Heavy use shortens it, and Blueair’s warranty expects the filter to be replaced on its schedule, so six months is the safe figure to budget for.
How do I reset the red filter light on a Blueair 3250i?
Hold the fan speed button for about 15 seconds, until every light on the control panel comes on, then let go. Do this after fitting a new filter; the light turns red when the old one is due. The RealTrack feature in the Blueair app also sends an alert when a new filter is needed.
Which filter fits the Blueair Blue Max 3250i?
The Blue Max 3250i Particle + Carbon filter, article number 110410, which Blueair says fits the 3250i only, so filters for the larger Blue Max models won’t do. The model name is printed on a label inside the purifier; check it before you order. The outer fabric pre-filter is a separate, washable part.
Can I wash the Blueair Blue Max pre-filter?
Yes. The outer fabric pre-filter on the Blue Max 3250i is washable, and Blueair also sells replacements in three colours: Limestone Beige (110434), Moss Green (110443) and Seabed Blue (110446). The main Particle + Carbon filter inside is a separate part that you replace every six to twelve months, depending on which Blueair figure you follow.
Where should I put the Blueair 3250i?
Almost anywhere in the room. It draws air in all round, through 360 degrees, and blows it out of the top, so Blueair says it can stand anywhere. Blueair sizes it for a room of about 20 m² at 4.8 air changes an hour, which matches our own rule, so one unit suits a bedroom or a home office rather than an open-plan floor.
