Our verdict
The Blue Max 3450i is the large-room model in Blueair’s Blue Max range. Unlike most brands, Blueair states CADR for each pollutant: 481 m³/h for smoke, 533 for dust and 620 for pollen, though it names no test standard. We use the smoke figure, the lowest, which still gives about 40 m² at five air changes an hour.
The UK page isn’t consistent. Its spec table recommends 54 m² at 4.8 air changes an hour and quotes 23 dB on low, while the text and FAQ say 43 m² and 25 dB. We list the smaller room and the higher noise figure. Either way it is light for its output at 3.5 kg, and draws 38 W at most.
It works like the smaller 3250i: a washable fabric pre-filter, a Particle + Carbon HEPASilent filter, a PM2.5 sensor with auto and night modes, and the Blueair app for schedules and filter tracking. The app can also start it as you near home. Of the shops we can check, only Blueair’s own store lists it. See how it ranks in our best air purifiers in the UK.
Filters and running costs
The 3450i takes its own Particle + Carbon filter, article 110412; the filter page’s FAQ names another model by mistake, so check the label inside the purifier. Blueair rates it for up to nine months on the filter page and up to a year with RealTrack, which counts fan speed, running hours and pollution, and the filter light turns red when it is due. The warranty depends on changing it on schedule. At 38 W, eight hours on top speed uses about 0.3 kWh. Our filter finder lists every part.

Blueair Blue Max 3450i questions
How often does the Blueair Blue Max 3450i filter need changing?
Up to every nine months, by Blueair’s filter page. The RealTrack estimate in the Blueair app can stretch that to a year, working from fan speed, running hours and pollution, while heavy use shortens it. The filter light turns red and the app sends an alert when it is due, and Blueair’s warranty expects filters to be changed on its schedule.
How do I reset the filter light on a Blueair 3450i?
Hold the fan speed button for about 15 seconds, until every light on the panel comes on, then let go. Do it after fitting the new filter, article 110412, once the light has turned red to show the old one was due. The Blueair app tracks the remaining filter life between changes.
What size room is the Blueair Blue Max 3450i for?
About 40 m², on our rule of five air changes an hour from its 481 m³/h smoke CADR. Blueair’s UK page gives two answers: 54 m² at 4.8 air changes an hour in the spec table and 43 m² in the product text. We list 43 m², which matches the smoke figure, so it suits a living room or open-plan space.
Which filter fits the Blueair Blue Max 3450i?
The Blue Max 3450i Particle + Carbon filter, article 110412. Its page says it fits the 3450i only, although the FAQ on that page names another model by mistake, so check the model label inside your purifier before ordering. Washable fabric pre-filters are sold separately in three colours, articles 110433, 110445 and 110448.
Does the Blueair 3450i filter smoke?
Yes, smoke particles. Blueair states a smoke CADR of 481 m³/h, the lowest of its three figures and still enough for about 40 m² on our rule. The Particle + Carbon filter adds a carbon layer for smells, but no CADR covers gases or odours, and Blueair names no test standard, so judge it mainly on the particle figures.
