Our verdict
The Airmega Mighty (AP-1512HH) is Coway’s long-running mid-size purifier and still a core model on its UK store. Coway’s UK page gives a CADR of 421 m³/h without naming a test standard; by our five-air-changes rule that covers about 35 m², just into our large-room band, while Coway’s own 109 m² has no stated basis. A dust sensor drives auto mode, and the timer offers one, four or eight hours.
The filters are why it suits pet homes. The pre-filter unclips from behind the front cover and can be vacuumed or washed, which helps with hair. Behind it sit an odour (deodorisation) filter and Coway’s GreenHEPA filter, which Coway rates at 99.999% at 0.01 µm in its own tests, with no EN 1822 class. Coway UK also sells a pet set and an allergen set for it; our best air purifiers for pets compares it with the other pet picks.
There is no app and no sleep mode as such: at night use speed 1 or Eco, and hold the ioniser button for three seconds to switch the air-quality light off. The ioniser is optional and off with its own button, though Coway gives no ozone figure for it.
Filters and running costs
Coway’s cycle is to clean the pre-filter every two to four weeks, replace the odour filter every six months and the GreenHEPA every 12, all assuming eight hours a day on top speed. The standard set (Coway UK number 3109689) holds one odour filter and one HEPA, so following that schedule leaves a spare HEPA each year; the pet and allergen sets hold two odour filters and a HEPA. Power runs from 4.9 W to 82 W: eight hours uses about 0.04 kWh on the lowest setting and 0.66 kWh on top speed. Our filter finder lists all three sets.
Living with it
Of the 60 owner reviews and posts we read, on Slickdeals, eBay and Coway’s UK and US stores, almost all are from US owners of the same AP-1512HH. The strongest theme is longevity: seven describe units still running after two years or more, the longest seven years. Twelve call it quiet, at least on its lower speeds, though three find the top speed loud, and eleven say the sensor reacts quickly to cooking, dust or sprays. Two found the indicator light a nuisance at night, not knowing it can be switched off. Three use cheaper third-party filters, which Coway’s manual advises against, and one returned a filter set that smelled.

Coway Airmega Mighty (AP-1512HH) questions
Which filter set fits the Coway Airmega Mighty?
Coway UK sells three sets for the AP-1512HH: standard (one deodorisation filter and a GreenHEPA, store number 3109689), pet (two pet deodorisation filters and a GreenHEPA) and allergen (two allergen deodorisation filters and a GreenHEPA). The manual says to use original Coway filters, and the warranty excludes damage caused by parts Coway hasn’t approved.
How do I reset the filter light on a Coway Airmega Mighty?
After replacing a filter, press the reset button for two seconds. If you replaced one early, hold reset for two seconds, press once for the odour filter or twice for the HEPA, then hold for two seconds again. The filter light blinks when one is due, with separate odour and HEPA lights, and the air-quality light stays off while an alert is on.
Can I wash the pre-filter on a Coway Airmega Mighty?
Yes. It unclips from behind the front cover and can be vacuumed or washed in water; dry it completely before refitting. Coway suggests cleaning it every two to four weeks. The odour and GreenHEPA filters behind it must never be washed. Every two months, also brush the air inlet, outlet and the sensor behind the right-hand cover, and wipe the sensor lens.
Can I turn off the ioniser on the Coway Airmega Mighty, and does it make ozone?
Yes, it has its own button and can be left off. Coway gives no ozone figure for it on its UK pages or in the manual. Official advice is cautious about ionisers: the Department for Education advises schools against them, and SAGE-EMG names ozone as the most common by-product of air cleaners. With it off, the filters still do the cleaning.
How do I turn off the light on a Coway Airmega Mighty at night?
Hold the ioniser button for three seconds to turn the air-quality light off or back on; the purifier keeps running. There is no dedicated sleep mode, so at night use speed 1 or Eco, which stops the fan after 30 minutes without detected pollution and restarts it when needed. Coway quotes 24.4 dB at its quietest.
