Our verdict
The Core 300S is the connected version of Levoit’s compact cylinder: 36 cm tall and 2.7 kg, with a laser dust sensor driving auto mode. Levoit’s UK manual gives a CADR of 258 m³/h without naming a test standard; by our five-air-changes rule that suits a room of about 21 m², while Levoit’s own 54 m² assumes two air changes an hour. The VeSync app adds a Quiet auto mode that never uses the top speed and an Efficient mode that runs on high until a room of the size you set is clean.
Its best feature is the filter choice. The Core 300-RF cylinder comes in original, pet allergy and toxin absorber versions on Levoit’s UK store, the last two with stronger carbon aimed at pet and cooking smells or smoke and fumes. The catch is the interval: Levoit says six to eight months, and the check-filter light counts running time rather than measuring the filter. Levoit states no HEPA class, and says it uses no ioniser or UV light.
We set it against its closest rival in Levoit Core 300S vs Philips AC2220, and its pet filter puts it in our best air purifiers for pets.
Filters and running costs
The filter sits in the base: flip the purifier, twist off the cover and unwrap a new filter before use. Brush or vacuum the pre-filter every two to four weeks, never wash it, and vacuum the laser sensor openings for about ten seconds every three months. Levoit says its filter-life tracking is designed for genuine filters, and repairs with non-Levoit parts aren’t covered by its two-year warranty. Power is 39 W on top speed, about 0.3 kWh over eight hours, and networked standby is at most 2 W. Our filter finder lists the Core 300-RF versions.

Levoit Core 300S questions
Which replacement filter fits the Levoit Core 300S?
The Core 300-RF family, which also fits the Core 300. Levoit’s UK store sells the original filter, a pet allergy version with a stronger carbon layer for pet and cooking smells, and a toxin absorber with stronger carbon for smoke, fumes and VOCs. The UK manual also lists a mould and bacteria version, Core 300-RF-MB, which wasn’t on the UK store when we checked.
How do I reset the filter light on a Levoit Core 300S?
Hold the sleep mode button for three seconds until the check-filter light goes out. The same press works if you changed the filter before the light came on. The light is a reminder based on how long the purifier has run, usually after six to eight months, so it comes on later with light use and sooner with heavy use.
What Wi-Fi does the Levoit Core 300S need?
A secure 2.4 GHz network, Levoit’s manual says; networks with a sign-in web page won’t work. Once it’s connected, the VeSync app adds Quiet Auto, which never uses the top speed, and Efficient Auto, which runs on high until a room of the size you set is clean. The buttons on the purifier still work without the app.
Does the Levoit Core 300S have an ioniser or make ozone?
It has no ioniser. Levoit states that its air purifiers use no UV-C lights and no negative ions, so there is nothing to switch off. That matters to some buyers because official advice is wary of ionisers: SAGE-EMG did not recommend them unless proven safe, and the US EPA says ion generators can produce ozone, a lung irritant.
What does E1 mean on a Levoit air purifier?
E1 means the motor has failed: stop using the purifier and contact Levoit UK support, which gives a two-year limited warranty on defects. If instead the air-quality ring is stuck on red, clean the laser sensor; mist from an ultrasonic humidifier nearby can also make it read high. The ring can stay blue while a room smells, because the sensor detects particles, not gases.
