Our verdict
The NeverChange5 (HP150UK) is built around one idea: a HEPA filter Shark says can last up to five years. That figure comes from Shark’s own test basis (GB/T 18801-2015, until the clean air rate halves, in a 12 m² space at 12 hours a day on maximum), so real life depends on how hard it works.
The plain gap is CADR. Shark publishes none for the HP150UK, and no noise figures either, only a room size of 12 m² at 4.8 air changes an hour (60 m² at one change). That makes it a small-room purifier on our scale, and you can’t compare its cleaning speed with models that state a CADR.
Two washable mesh filters on the sides catch hair, lint and dust before they reach the HEPA filter, which is why we see it for small rooms in pet homes; compare the larger options in our best air purifiers for pets. A particle sensor sets the fan in Auto mode, and Eco mode stops the fan once the air reads clean. The HP150UK on John Lewis’ listing comes with a scented odour cartridge.
Filters and running costs
The HEPA filter, part HE15FKPET, holds about 90 g of carbon and isn’t washable. The mesh dust filters are: brush them, or rinse them in room-temperature tap water, when a pulsing red ring asks, then let them dry for 12 hours before refitting. The odour cartridges are the frequent consumable, due about every three months, though it runs without one. It is rated at 26 W, so eight hours on maximum uses about 0.21 kWh. Shark says to use only Shark filters; our filter finder lists the part.

Shark NeverChange5 Air Purifier (HP150UK) questions
How long does the Shark NeverChange5 HEPA filter last?
Up to five years, by Shark’s own test: GB/T 18801-2015, run until the clean air rate halves, in a 12 m² space for 12 hours a day on maximum fan speed. Real life depends on how long and how hard your purifier runs. The filter, part HE15FKPET, can’t be washed, so keep it away from water.
How do I clean the mesh dust filters on a Shark HP150?
Brush them with a soft brush attachment or wipe them with a cloth. If they need more, rinse them in room-temperature tap water and leave them to dry for 12 hours. Never run the purifier with wet mesh filters. The display shows a pulsing red ring and a check dust filters message when they need attention.
How do I clear the check dust filters warning on my Shark purifier?
Press and hold the filter icon on the top panel for 1 to 2 seconds. Clean the two mesh dust filters first, by brushing or rinsing and drying them, so the warning clears for a reason. It appears as a pulsing red ring with a check dust filters message on the display.
How often do I replace the Shark anti-odour cartridge?
About every three months, Shark says. A fading scent is normal and doesn’t mean the cartridge has stopped working, and you can leave the cartridge out altogether. The dial has four positions: Off, Low, Medium and High. Not every HP150 version comes with a cartridge, and the dial is sold separately if yours didn’t.
Where should I put the Shark HP150UK?
On a level floor at least 8 cm from walls and furniture, away from heaters, radiators, direct sunlight and water. Shark also says to keep doors and windows closed while it runs and to avoid very humid rooms. It is sized for a room of about 12 m², so one unit suits a bedroom or a small study.
