Living rooms, open-plan spaces or smoke and pet problems in a large room: it is rated for 14 m² only.

Our verdict

The Portable Desktop Air Purifier (T673000) is built for a bedside table or a desk, and its stated CADR is the lowest of any purifier we list. Its one cartridge stacks a pre-filter for larger dust and pet hair, an activated carbon layer for smells and an H13 HEPA layer for fine particles, so it names a filter class where several larger purifiers we list give none.

Tower states a CADR of 120 m³/h and rates it for rooms up to 14 m², without naming the test standard. Our rule of about five air changes an hour gives nearer 10 m²: a box room, a small bedroom or the space around a desk. If your bedroom is bigger, start with our best air purifiers for bedrooms.

It has four fan speeds, a 12-hour off timer, four mood-light colours and a sleep mode that dims the display and runs at a stated 26 dB. A PM2.5 sensor shows how dusty the air is, but Tower doesn’t say whether it changes the fan speed on its own.

Filters and running costs

The replacement is Tower’s HEPA 13 cartridge, part T67300001, which fits both the grey T673000 and the blue T673000BLG. Tower rates it for about 1,500 hours of use and suggests a change roughly every six months, which is about eight hours a day; run it around the clock and those hours are gone in about two months. A reminder light shows when it is due. Tower publishes no power figures, so we can’t estimate its electricity use. Our filter finder lists the parts for every model we cover.

Tower T673000 Portable Desktop Air Purifier questions

Which filter fits the Tower T673000 air purifier?

The Tower Air Purifier HEPA 13 Filter, part number T67300001. It is a single cartridge with a pre-filter, an activated carbon layer and an H13 HEPA layer, and it fits both colours of the desktop purifier: the grey T673000 and the blue T673000BLG. Tower sells it as an accessory on its own website, so check the part number if you buy one elsewhere.

How often should I change the Tower T673000 filter?

About every six months, Tower suggests. It rates the cartridge for around 1,500 hours of use, which is roughly eight hours a day for six months, and a built-in reminder lights up when a change is due. If the purifier runs day and night, those 1,500 hours pass in about two months, so expect the reminder much sooner.

Is the Tower desktop purifier quiet enough for a bedroom?

It has a sleep mode made for that: Tower states 26 dB, and the mode also dims the display lights. Tower doesn’t publish noise figures for its faster speeds. The 12-hour off timer lets it run while you fall asleep and then switch itself off, which suits a small bedroom or box room.

What size room is the Tower T673000 for?

A small one. Tower rates it for rooms up to 14 m² from its stated CADR of 120 m³/h. Our rule of thumb aims for about five air changes an hour under a 2.4 m ceiling and divides the CADR by 12, which gives about 10 m²: a box room, a small bedroom or the area around a desk.

How do I get three years' warranty on the Tower purifier?

Register it on Tower’s website. The purifier comes with a one-year warranty as standard, and Tower adds two more years, three in total, when you register it online. Registration is free, so it is worth doing as soon as you have set the purifier up rather than waiting for a fault.
