A large-room purifier with a 500 m³/h CADR, a PM2.5 readout, app control and an H13-class filter set that Winix says lasts a year.
Updated
- 500 m³/h Clean air delivery rate (CADR)
- 120 m² Recommended room size
- 23.2 dB(A) Noise at lowest setting
- 12 months Filter life (maker's estimate)
Pros
- CADR of 500 m³/h, enough for about 40 m² at five air changes an hour
- Numeric PM2.5 readout plus a four-colour air-quality light
- Light sensor puts it into sleep mode in a dark room when on auto
- Filter GR set (pre-filter, carbon, H13 HEPA) lasts about 12 months
- Display dims in steps to off; remaining filter life shown as F99 to F00
Cons
- Sold only by Winix as far as we found, with no delivery to Northern Ireland
- PlasmaWave ioniser is on by default each time it is switched on
- Pre-filter can be vacuumed but not washed
- Sensor needs about four minutes to settle after switching on
- Best for
- Living rooms and open-plan spaces of 35 to 45 m² where you want app control and one filter change a year.
- Not for
- A small bedroom or desk: at almost 52 cm tall it is more than the room needs; the T500 is the compact sibling.
Our verdict
The T800 WiFi is Winix’s most powerful current purifier in the UK, with a CADR of 500 m³/h; Winix names no test standard. By our rule of five air changes an hour that covers a room of about 40 m², while Winix’s 120 m² figure implies under two. It has a numeric PM2.5 display beside a four-colour light, a light sensor that drops it into sleep mode when the room goes dark, and a turbo speed you choose by hand.
Its Filter GR set combines a pre-filter, activated carbon and a HEPA layer that Winix’s UK page calls H13, though the manual names no class. Winix puts its life at about 12 months, and the display counts it down from F99 to F00. One change a year with this much air is why we rate it our best value; compare it with the other large-room picks in our best air purifiers in the UK.
The catches: we found no UK seller but Winix’s own store, which doesn’t deliver to Northern Ireland, and PlasmaWave, Winix’s ioniser, starts on by default, though it has its own off button. Winix’s own claim is that ECARF tests found under 0.01 ppm of ozone.
Filters and running costs
Filter GR (part 1712-0118-04, sold in the UK as 1712-0118-04-UK) goes in through the base, like the T500’s. Vacuum the pre-filter about every two weeks and clean the dust-sensor lens with cotton swabs every two months, using no water or solvents. After a change, hold the filter button for five seconds until it beeps. Power runs from 2.5 W on the lowest speed to 45 W at the top, so eight hours uses between about 0.02 and 0.36 kWh. Our filter finder lists Filter GR.

Winix T800 WiFi questions
Which filter does the Winix T800 use?
Winix Filter GR, part 1712-0118-04, which Winix’s UK webshop sells as 1712-0118-04-UK. It is an all-in-one set with a pre-filter, an activated carbon filter and a HEPA filter that the UK product page calls H13. Winix puts its life at about 12 months, varying with the home, and the cartridge can’t be washed or reused.
How do I check and reset the filter life on a Winix T800?
Give the filter button a quick press and the display shows the remaining life, counting down from F99 to F00. After fitting a new Filter GR set, hold the same button for five seconds, until it beeps, to reset it. The filter light and the Winix app also tell you when a change is due.
Can I turn the display lights off on the Winix T800 at night?
Yes. The light button steps the display through 100, 70 and 30 per cent brightness and then off, without changing any other setting. In auto mode a light sensor also puts the purifier into sleep mode when the room goes dark, and turbo, the top speed, can only be chosen by hand, so auto never switches to it.
What do the numbers and colours on the Winix T800 display mean?
The number is the PM2.5 level in micrograms per cubic metre. The light is blue up to 35, green from 36 to 55, orange from 56 to 150 and red above 150, and odours can change the colour too. A new unit delivered in winter may read 5 with a blue light because of condensation in the sensor, which Winix says clears within one to two hours.
Does the Winix T800 make ozone, and can I turn PlasmaWave off?
You can turn it off: PlasmaWave, Winix’s ioniser, has its own button, though it is on by default when the purifier starts. Winix states that ECARF tests found its purifiers emit under 0.01 ppm of ozone, below the 0.05 ppm CARB limit, which is the maker’s own claim. A chirping or buzzing sound from it while running is normal, Winix says.
